What are you reading Wednesday: Sedaris and Eskens
Here’s what I’ve been reading:
I read Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris for my book club here in Stockholm. Laughed non stop — about his oddball family of 5 siblings and his experiences of France. I related all the way through. His sister, Amy, calling to him sitting in the subway as she got off, “So long, David, I hope you can beat that rape charge…” too funny. His French teacher – I’m sure I’ve met her, she probably hangs out with the dentist I used to see in Paris who made me fear red lipstick. The Rooster story. The American tourists mistaking him for a greaseball pickpocket. I also love the book club I’m in that got me reading this. Smart women, mums laughing about other mum antics. Collective fear of impending Stockholm darkness in winter… we met at Urban Deli in Sveavägen. Cool place. Loud but great Pinot Grigio. You can buy deli items on your way out into the darkness….
Speaking of darkness, I also just flew through The Life We Bury by Allen Eskens – a psychological suspense recommended to me this blog’s comments! UTTERLY FANTASTIC READ. Seriously. The language is superb. The plot thickens to gravy. Get it for Thanksgiving and be thankful you are not almost dead in a snow-bound hut with no shoes (just one of the superb twists). Incredible book.

And what I’m currently reading:
Lacey Luzzi: Sprinkled by Gina LaMamma. I’m still in this one! 20% through. And I’m 54% through The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena (I think she did it… the wife…. just sayin’ and I hope I’m wrong and there’s a better twist than that).
What are you reading on this beautiful sunny (in Stockholm) Wednesday?
